For over a century the history of Pirelli has been the history of the car. A history built on high performance tyres, in which Pirelli is the world leader in both original equipment and the aftermarket: with 24 factories in 12 countries around the world.
Pirelli Tyre is the world's fifth largest operator in terms of turnover on the tyre market, with levels of profitability among the highest in the sector.
Within this market, Pirelli Tyre focuses in particular on the high-end segments characterized by elevated technological contents and high performance. These are segments in which Pirelli has established itself in positions of leadership with regard to both its car and motorcycle tyres: Pirelli tyres are today seen as synonymous with quality, emotion and ultimate performance.
Pirelli is worldwide recognized as a leader in the Ultra High performance tyre also thanks to its successes in more than one century in Motorsport. The company’s first victory in a motor race came in the Peking-Paris event in 1907. That event signalled the beginning of a history of on- and off-track, two- and four-wheeled competition in which Pirelli has been a constant protagonist; a tradition of sporting success consolidated over the years by figures such as Nuvolari, Ascari and Fangio.
In the field of Motorsport the group has focused its activities on those sectors in which the characteristics of the vehicles, generally derived from production models, facilitate the transfer of experience from the track to the production line. Our activities are related both to Rally (WRC, IRC and other series including Middle East Rally Championship) and Racing competitions (GRAND AM, FIA GT and other racing competitions).
Since 1948, with the introduction of its first sports car, Porsche has developed fascinating, exclusive and powerful vehicles, worth the presence of top end Pirelli products.
